Road Trip - In the Car

After 24 days, over 4,000 miles, 9 states, 5 National Parks, 1 National Monument, 1 State Park, Lagoon, a triathlon, playing with family and friends, and visiting the Mall of America we are finally back in Wisconsin!  It was a ton of fun, but it is definitely nice to be back home and not living out of a suitcase!  Now it's time for me to post the trip on our blog, so bare with me.   There will probably be a ton of posts, with a ton of pictures about our month long adventure.  This blog is basically my scrapbook/journal so I have to put it all on here. Here are some pictures of us in the car and a few at one of our hotels.

Chris at the beginning of the road trip
And Chris towards the end of all that driving, haha.

Sonja did such a great job.  She had a few crying spouts, but mostly she just slept and played.

Drake did pretty well too.  He was pretty happy because this was the only time he got to watch a ton of movies!

Crossing the Mississippi River.

Some weird statue we just had to capture.
Some of the states we came through.  Including, Minnesota, South Dakota, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota again, and Wisconsin.

My babies playing on the hotel bed

And this is a cute little video of Drake making Sonja giggle.  She was laughing so hard but of course it started to fizzle out once we got the camera out.  That is okay, you get the picture.

Road Trip - Day One

Crossed 2 state lines
2 Ticks
1 smashed hand in the car door (luckily it wasn't too badly hurt)
Our first tornado watch/warning of the year
Two movies, some coloring and a nap for Drake
Three naps and just a bit of crying for Sonja
And playing in the hotel waterpark and some piza to end the day.
 Not a bad day.

Now on to day two!

Earth Day

For Earth Day today I decided to get Drake in on the action.  During breakfast today we talked about what Earth Day means.  To my surprise, Drake ate it up and we were able to talk about it (with him asking questions and everything) for about 15 minutes!  In the afternoon we went across the street to clean up the trees and the spillway.  Drake loved it!  He thought it was so fun to look in the leaves and bushes for the garbage.  We didn't get to spend too much time out there because it was a little chilly and breezy today, but I think Drake understands more what the Earth is and why we need to take care of it.

Getting ready to go find garbage!

This picture is supposed so show that Drake's bag was full, but you can't really see it.

Chris was doing some funny poses behind me while I was taking the picture and Drake was imitating him.  He thought it was pretty funny.

6 Months Old

My sweet little miss is 6 months old.  Crazy!  The last 6 months have definitely gone by fast.  I love watching her grow and learn new things but I am sad the infant stage is officially over.  But she is still my small little baby.  She only weighs 13 pounds 9 ounces.  She is so tiny!  But I love it!  She is in the 10th percentile for weight but she is happy and healthy, which means I am happy.  She loves her solid foods and surprisingly likes vegetables more than fruits.  Now that she is sitting by herself (has been for a couple weeks now) she loves watching her brother play and run around her even more.  She is such a good little baby and is so happy and smiley.  Her face just lights up when someone is paying attention to her.  She still refuses to take a bottle, which makes it a little hard for me to leave her for an extended amount of time, otherwise she is really easy going.  She sleeps through the night, still is taking three naps a day, and loves sharing a room with Drake.  We love you Sonja baby!!!

She is obsessed with her tongue lately. She always has it out, it is so funny!
