Funny Drake

I thought I would share some funny stories about Drake so I don't forget them:

~ Chris - "Drake you are in big trouble!"
Drake - "I am not in big trouble dad, I am little!"

~ We started Drake in swim lessons and on his first day we walked him to his teacher and then turned to leave. We looked back and saw Drake's teacher talking to him with a confused look on her face. She kept looking at her roster and then she turned to ask a different teacher a question. We walked back in and find out that she asked Drake his name and he told her Maximus (the horse from Tangled). Needless to say we had to have a talk with Drake about how we have to use our real names when people ask us our names.

~Also in swim lessons there are 5 kids in his class. The kids were supposed to stand on the side and sing a song, at a certain point in the song the teacher pointed to one of the kids and he/she would then jump into the pool. Of course, Drake decides he doesn't need to wait and he jumps in when it was someone else's turn. That stinker! He was fine, just under the water for a few seconds until the teacher got to him. He didn't even suck in any water. When he got back to the side of the pool he said, "I just wanted to jump in mom!"

~ The other day Drake was down for a nap. I peaked my head in to check on him and I couldn't see him on his bed. I started to panic and looked under his bed, in Sonja's crib, but he wasn't anywhere. Then I heard this little sigh, I look down and there he is, dead asleep in his toy box. He moved his toys out (there weren't much in there) and climbed in with his stuffed animals. What a weirdo!

~Drake loves to put his socks on his hands. He is obsessed. He will put striped ones on his hands and say his a tiger. White ones and he is a mad guy (that is what he calls the guys that chase Flynn Ryder in Tangled). Red ones and he is Mr. Incredible. And the list goes on.

~This isn't a funny story, just something I am proud of. For Valentines Day I asked Drake to write something for Dad. He decided he wanted to write "I Love You Dad". I of course had to tell him what letters to write but he drew the letters all on his own! I know it is kind of hard to tell what he wrote, but I am still super proud of him! (I love the tiny D in Dad, kind of funny).

Our Promise

Yesterday Chris and I were able to dedicate Drake and Sonja at our church. Basically this meant that Chris and I were making a promise to God that we are going to do our best in teaching our kids about God and setting them up on the right path. This was a big moment for our little family and I am so happy and excited that we chose to do it. Basically this whole journey started when I had Drake. I started having this feeling that I needed to get to know God and Jesus more so I could answer Drakes (and our future kids) questions. I don't have a huge background with religion and was a little hesitant about the whole process and didn't really know where to begin. To make a long story short, a friend told me about this church so about a year and a half ago we started going. From the start we just felt at home there and were confident that this was the right place to start our journey. Drake absolutely loved the child care there and as soon as we saw how he was soaking up everything they were teaching him we knew that we were on the right path. When I was pregnant with Sonja I heard about the whole dedication process so Chris and I decided we would dedicate both Drake and Sonja at the same time. The dedication was really nice and low key. There were about 12 other families dedicating their kids with us. We each had a moment to stand up, introduce who we were dedicating, and share a verse we had chosen for each of our kids. Then the pastor prayed over them. At the very end they had a slide show of some pictures of all the kids which was a nice little touch and fun to see. We are so happy we found Elmbrook church. I truly feel like our little family has grown a lot spiritually in the last little while. However we were sad that this big moment for our family had to occur so far away from our families so here are some pics of the big day and the versus we choose for Drake and Sonja. We didn't get any pics of the actual ceremony, we video taped it, so these pics were before and after.

For Drake the verse we choose was:
My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. Proverbs 3:1-2

And for Sonja:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Haha, this picture is awesome because our kids look miserable! This was the end of the service and Drake was starving and Sonja was super tired, but they were actually really good during the service. They were nice and saved the meltdowns for after.

4 months!

Sonja babe (as Drake calls her) is 4 months! It is so funny how with Drake I was all about him hitting his milestones and everything and now with Sonja, I just want her to stay a little tiny baby forever. Although she is very tiny, so I at least have that going for me. Her stats are:
weight: 11 lbs 8 oz (a little over the 10th%)
height: 24 in (25%)
So she is my little petite thing!
Sonja is still cooing, babbling and giggling a ton - I love it! She just started rolling over. She loves watching Drake. Literally she is so happy to just sit in her bumbo and watch Drake run around and play with his toys. I am still off dairy for her but I am going to start gradually putting it back into my diet, so we will see how she handles it now that she is a little older. We just started sleep training and she is doing pretty well! Of course there is crying but it doesn't last too awfully long. During the night she will have anywhere between a 6-8 hours stretch of sleeping, so that is nice! We are going to start rice cereal here soon (as soon as I go to the grocery store to get it, haha). We just love her so much and are so happy with our family of 4!

My Sweet Sonja

I wanted to show some pics of my sweet little miss. She is so much fun and is growing so fast. I can't believe she is already almost 4 months. CRAZY! We are going to start sleep training her in the next couple weeks so wish us luck on that.
